Italian English

My name is Luca Longo, also known as `luc_`, I’m 35 and I live in Italy, near Ancona. My interest in computing started in the mid-’90s, by chance, and became a job in 2000. After nine years as a sysadmin at Capolinea I chose to start my own business, searching for new stimulus and in order to independently choose projects on which give my attention. Since then I work mainly as a freelance, offering my services to SMEs, organizations and independent professionals.

I work in IT both as a consultant and as a sysadmin, with a focus on computer security and Privacy related topics. Technically I tend to prefer, if possible, GNU/Linux-based solutions, or more generally FOSS, because I consider it more reliable, as well as more ethically correct.

I like well done things, even when it means giving a good advice for free, instead of earning on a product non-ideal for the context. That’s why I’m not bound to any vendor, making my choices upon the real customers’ needs. I love to think out of the box. I believe in freedom of speech, Net neutrality and the right to Privacy, concepts quite uncomfortable for some, and unfortunately overlooked by many others. I’m curious, weird, perfectionist and a little bit hypochondriac, but I’m kind. And most of all I’m paranoid, but, quoting Orwell, “Paranoia is a Virtue“!
